Sestri Levante
Sestri Levante spread around the peninsula that gives it a unique aspect: two seas, one which runs the Bay of Favole and one that goes in the Bay of Silence.
The Bay of Favole, which owes its name to the famous writer for children H.C. Andersen, gives Sestri its alive and animated look, with its wide beach, the bathing establishments, the succession of local restaurants and an entertaining after-dinner.
The Bay of Silence represents the most intimate and romantic aspect of Sestri, collected among typical pastel houses and linked to the ancient and slow fishing times.
In the centre of Sestri Levante winds the "caruggio", paved pedestrian street characteristic of the Liguria villages. Here is relaxing walking and shopping in stores that offer typical products and in the elegant boutiques that open in old palazzi and under valuable slate portals.
On the Bay of Silenzio, Palazzo Rizzi preserves a rich gallery of paintings and a collection of antique furniture, artistic ceramics and rare prints. On the beach of Bay of Favole is possible to admire an ancient "leudo." The leudo is a traditional Liguria boat for commercial use.
There are numerous churches, palaces and characteristic angles that we let the eye of curious tourists discover. At 4 km from Sestri Levante rises Riva Trigoso, peaceful town of sailors and fishermen that grew and prospered around the sea and activities related to. The village is reachable on foot through a highly scenic path that, from the centre of Sestri Levante, winds around the promontory of Punta Manara, very interesting from naturalistic point of view.
