The territory of Portofino encloses a small area in a natural heritage of exceptional interest, as well as testimonies of farmer and marine civilization, splendid examples of medieval religious architecture, clusters of houses surrounded by small gardens and tiny handkerchiefs of land with vines and olive trees. The promontory is overlooking the clear waters of marine protected area between two gulfs of Tigullio and Paradiso and is crossed by a dense network of paths.
Among forests of chestnut trees, oaks and hazels and dense Mediterranean scrub suddenly open glimpses of blue sea, solitary churches and mills.
But the mountain keeps some of its jewels on the seashore, set among the rocks: the Bay of San Fruttuoso with the splendid Benedictine Abbey of the X century, Portofino with villas and houses for fishermen grown around its natural harbour and the bay of Paraggi. Famous corners of paradise achieved each year by an elite international tourism on board of sailing ships, yachts and wonderful boats.
